Based on the results of 2016, the available retail commercial market for the products with immunomodulatory and/or antiviral effect [1] used for prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases reached 31.82 billion rubles [2] by value and 98.61 million packages by volume, showing a solid increase in sales of 21 and 12% respectively

The hospital segment amounted to 151.5 billion rubles by value and 801.22 million packages by volume. At the same time, in rubles, the market grew by 2% in rubles, and decreased by 1% in packages.

According to the analytical company Alpha Research and Marketing, the Russian pharmacy segment amounted to 94.5 billion rubles in sellout prices in January 2017. It grew by 17% compared to January of last year in national currency.

Despite the prevalence of sleep problems (28 to 45% of the population), the sleep normalizing drugs are difficult to access. The access is restricted mainly because most of them are only available on prescription. Some brands are on strict record keeping in pharmacies, as controlled substances. By the results of 2016, the sales of the sleeping pills reached 1.94 billion rubles (5.24 million packages), whereas the sales of the group of other sleep improving products were 6 times more in value (12.91 billion rubles) and almost 40 times more in packages (199,14 billion packages).

In 2016, the retail commercial segment of the pharmaceutical market of dietary supplements decreased somewhat both in value and in volume. The share of sales of Russian dietary supplements increased both in packages and in rubles in 2016. The imported dietary supplements grew in price more than domestic ones.
