Based on the results of the first half of 2017, about 61,000 pharmacies were active in Russia, according to the analytical company AlphaRM. In a year or two, 15 to 20 pharmacy chains will account for 50 to 60% of the total market. Within them, a dominant position will be shared by three or four companies that will be able to competently manage various technological tools. This is the forecast concerning the largest players. However, according to RNC Pharma analysts, Russia has about 10,000 pharmacies, which are neither part of large networks, nor members of marketing associations. Choosing the principle “I am on my own,” these companies risk becoming bankrupts tomorrow, according to some experts.

The participants in the summer meeting of the RAPM, moderated by the editor-in-chief of the PhV German Inozemtsev considered working with the hospital segment more closely. The experts were looking for an answer to the question “Is there life on Mars?” or rather “What is the role of marketing in the hospital segment?” The discussion made it clear that the segment that is so limited by all possible legislative frameworks offers an available niche, which is actively used by many manufacturers.

The Moscow Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service reported on drug supply and medical care in pre-trial detention centers. According to the administration of the Federal Penitentiary Service, the prisoners in the capital’s pre-trial detention centers are fully provided with the necessary drugs. However, such an optimistic conclusion is not shared by human rights activists. According to them, complaints about improper medical care outnumber all other appeals of arrested citizens and their relatives.
