AlphaRM: in May, the number of pharmacies in Russia exceeded 61 thousand for the first time

According to the analytical company AlphaRM and based on the results of May 2017, the number of pharmacy institutions in Russia increased by almost 6% compared to the same period of the previous year and exceeded 61 thousand outlets for the first time.

The pharmacy chain Aprel (Krasnodar) continued to conquer new regions; following the Kursk, Volgograd and Astrakhan regions, it opened new outlets in Saratov and Voronezh regions in April and May. The Moscow pharmacy chain Mega Pharm also opened new pharmacies in the Samara region in May, following the outlet opened in Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Kaluga, Volgograd regions and the Chuvash Republic in April. The tendency of changing the form of ownership, transforming state networks into commercial ones continued: 6 networks from Tambov, Leningrad, Kostroma, Vladimir regions and Primorsky Krai changed their form of ownership in May. Over the past year, the number of state-owned pharmacy institutions decreased from about 6,100 to 5,770 outlets.

 

The volume of the pharmacy market in Russia amounted to 91.32 billion rubles in May 2017. It increased by 17% compared to May of last year and decreased by 2% compared to the previous month. However, the growth in US dollars amounted to 35%, and in the European currency, to 38%.
