ALPHARM: THE VOLUME OF THE COMMERCIAL MARKET OF MEDICINAL PRODUCTS GREW MORE THAN BY 50% IN FOREIGN CURRENCY IN DECEMBER 2016

 According to the analytical company AlphaRM, the volume of the pharmaceutical market in Russia reached 113.1 billion rubles in December 2016 (sell-out) and increased by 16% compared to December 2015. However, due to fluctuations in exchange rates, December’s growth compared to December 2015 amounted to 31% in US dollars and 35% in European currency. The market growth in the 4th quarter compared to the same period in 2015 amounted to 6% and the growth in foreign currency, to 11% and 13%, respectively.

The trends of the pharmacy segment of the drug market in December 2016 compared with December 2015 are shown in Fig. 1. The growth over the last quarter of 2016 compared to 2015 was 21%, while amounting to 27% and 29% in foreign currency, respectively. As to the total value of the pharmacy segment (drugs, dietary supplements, complementary goods), the December to December sell-out volume increased by 33% in rubles, 49% in dollars and 54% in euros, and the sell-in increased by 42%, 59% and 64% respectively.

 In the fourth quarter of 2016, there was a drop in the volume of the State procurement segment. The State purchases decreased compared to 2015 in the IV quarter of 2016 (Figure 2). The December volume of public procurement declined by 13% compared to the same period of the previous year, while stagnating in foreign currency, assuming small fluctuations in the statistical error (-2% in dollars and + 1% in euros).
