ALPHARM: THE VOLUME OF RUSSIAN PHARMACY SEGMENT REACHED 94.5 BILLION RUBLES IN JANUARY 2017

 

According to the analytical company Alpha Research and Marketing, the volume of the pharmacy segment in Russia amounted to 94.5 billion rubles in January 2017, in the prices of the final consumer (sell-out), and grew by 17% in national currency compared to January of last year. At the same time, due to currency fluctuations, January’s January growth was 53% in US dollars and 56% in European currency. The January fall in sales volumes relative to the previous month was logical: it amounted to 12% in rubles, 8% and 9% in dollars and euros, respectively.

 The largest share in sales falls to the Central Federal District (31%), followed by the Volga, North-West and Siberian Federal Districts with 19, 12 and 12% respectively. In the Central Federal District, the leaders are Moscow and Moscow region with 13 and 6% respectively. In the Volga district, the leadership is shared by the Nizhny Novgorod and Samara regions, and the Republic of Tatarstan with 2.5% each. In the North-West Federal District, St. Petersburg is the leader with a share of 6%. In the Siberian Federal District, the Novosibirsk region stands out with 2.3% and the Krasnoyarsk Territory with 2%.

 The highest increase in sales was shown by the Urals and Volga federal districts: in January 2017, the increase in rubles amounted to 25 and 23%, respectively, compared to January 2016. In foreign currency, these results reached 63 and 61% in US dollars, and 66 and 64% in European currency. There was no drop in retail sales of medicines in any federal district. However, in some regions there was a slight decline in sales in rubles: the Nenets Autonomous District, the Altai Territory and the Arkhangelsk Region. In these regions of the Federation, the sales decreased by 8, 4 and 3%, respectively.
