The number of pharmacy institutions in Russia exceeded 62,500 outlets in August, which is 6.7% more than in the same period of the previous year. The largest share of pharmacy outlets falls to the Central Federal District with 29%, followed by the Volga and Siberian Federal Districts with 20% and 13% respectively. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the share of pharmacy institutions in the regions has not significantly changed: the Central Federal District’s share was28%, and the Volga Federal District, 21%.
The pharmacy chain Mega Pharm (Moscow) was the fastest growing in terms of the number of outlets compared to August 2016 among the TOP-100 in August. It appeared in mid-2016, and in August 2017 the number of the chain’s pharmacies exceeded 550. The Mega Pharm chain also showed a significant increase in the number of points compared to the previous month, it was 14%. However, the most rapidly growing number of outlets in comparison with July 2017 among the TOP-100 in August was the pharmacy chain Pharmland (Ufa), with the increase of 22% and the number of outlets exceeding 900. In August, the pharmacy chain Pharmland bought 49 pharmacies of the Ortikon chain (Salavat) and 99 points of the republican chain 36.6 (Kazan). The Erkapharm Group of Companies continues to increase its presence in the regions of Russia and acquired 10 outlets of the Penza pharmacy chain Aptechny Dom in August. Recently, the group acquired the pharmacy chains of the pharmaceutical group ROSTA; the group’s main assets are the pharmacy chains Ozerki and Doctor Stoletov. In total, according to the results of August, the number of the GC Erapharm’s pharmacies exceeds 1570.
